Subway: Casa Vieja is an adaptive reuse project located in Playa El Ángel, Pampatar, designed and built by ARC+A in 2018. Covering a surface area of approximately 130 square meters, the intervention transformed "Casa Vieja" (a beloved vintage cafe known for its rustic charm) into a contemporary fast-food restaurant. The primary design challenge was to seamlessly blend Subway’s strict corporate brand guidelines with the site's pre-existing architectural heritage. The resulting concept pairs the franchise's classic Tuscan color palette with rustic, warm textures tailored to the Caribbean ambiance of Isla de Margarita. The programmatic layout incorporates an inviting outdoor terrace, an indoor customer dining area, a standardized service counter, restrooms, and a closed food preparation and storage facility, paying homage to the site's history while delivering a modern dining experience.
