As the flagship department of the hospital, UQ represents the facility's Surgical Ward, engineered to accommodate high-complexity interventions. The architectural program comprises seven high-specification operating theaters, each offering over 25m² of surface area, supported by a dedicated recovery wing with eight beds and two postpartum stations. The design strategy departs from standard clinical aesthetics, employing a clean, minimalist base elevated by a sophisticated material palette. The interior features high-contrast wood and exotic stone detailing, while the operating theaters are distinguished by bold copper accents and a dynamic lighting scheme, solidifying UQ as the "main event" of the complex.
